SPOTLIGHT ON...

When scrap works well and when it doesn’t...

The scrap in your PlayPod offers children flexibility and spontaneity.

We include key scrap that can be connected; rolled; moved; stacked; constructed and deconstructed in any way children can think of.

The right level of scrap (and the tidiness of the PlayPod) ensures inspiration and makes things easier to manage.

Children should empty the PlayPod every playtime. It’s important to allow them to do this.

It’s tempting to limit what children take out on the assumption that tidy up time is easier but an empty PlayPod gives a good opportunity to see the bottom of the bays.

Scrap that is left is likely to be broken or considered of little play value.

The amount of scrap in the PlayPod has a real impact on the play value -

- Too little is limiting, children are uninterested, argue or hoard scrap.

- Too much is overwhelming, imaginations aren't sparked enough and it’s not easily accessible or inviting.

If children get disinterested, then so will staff.

Scrap needs to be well organised, checked regularly for damage and disposed of when it has lost appeal.

Your 4 annual deliveries should be topping up the level of scrap in the PlayPod.
